Junior & Development Squad

Junior squad:

is the first step to furthering your child’s aquatic skills and transitions from our learn to swim program seamlessly. They will discover an incredibly fun environment that will continue to fine tune their techniques while introducing a multitude of competitive skills, like tumble turns, butterfly & streamlining.

Junior squad is suited to those who want to further their knowledge and skill set. The purpose of junior squad is to train 2-5 times per week and further the skills and understanding the sport of swimming.

Coaches will encourage the swimmers to do all skills slowly, correctly and with purpose, providing feedback constantly to all kids (both positive and constructive) this will be done with very clear basic and concise instructions. Emphasis on doing things quicker with good technique will placed in development squad.

The only conditioning that the Juniors will undergo is a small kick set that will be performed most sessions.

Skills Taught:

  • Sculling
  • Free, Back, Breast & Fly turns
  • Legal Finishes
  • Streamlining 10m+ for all 4 strokes
  • Reading the Clock
  • Taking Heart Rate
  • Basic Stroke drills
  • Stroke count
  • How to enjoy training
  • Small Kick sets

Development Squad:

Philosophy: Develop skills & Enjoyment

The purpose of development squad, is to further develop young swimmers who have enjoyed the Junior squad environment, this will be done through minimal conditioning and copious amounts of drills and skills and training the swimmers to be more knowledgeable and conscious of what they are doing. Below is a list of the tools that will be used to develop the swimmer further. Swimmers are expected to train 3-5 times per week.

Development Squad is offered every Mon-Thurs 5:00-6:30 and Friday 4:00-5:30

Skills Taught:

  • Refining Basic Stroke Drills
  • Advance Sculling (timed)
  • IM Turns
  • Further refinement of Free, Back, Breast & Fly turns
  • Streamlining 12m+ in All 4 Strokes
  • Heart Rate
  • Stroke Count
  • Target Time
  • Mini Max
  • Basic Race Skills such as Diving and pacing
  • Endurance Kick sets
